Victim of the credit crunch?

This BMW (also spotted somewhere around Streatham) doesn't look as if it's gone anywhere for a while. Weeds under the wheels and a flat front tyre. If you don't want it, I'll have it

You pay the insurance, I'll pay for repairs; we can share it! Mon 5-Jan-2009 17:44

Okay. You fix it and I'll pay for insurance. Either way, let's go autocross racing on the weekends!

BTW, you can see me over at Fotothing.

British is best...

... when it comes to '60s sports cars at least.

Late '60's Austin Healey Sprite spotted in a front drive somewhere in Streatham, South London. I had one of these once... (it was British Racing green - or at least, the bits that weren't near match aerosol were...)

Very nice! I think missus JP will have a new Mini next time she replaces her car. Mon 5-Jan-2009 17:45

Leaving the tunnel

A shot in the mirror as we were leaving the subway under the London to Brighton railway in Streatham. Part of the Capital Ring walk from Crystal Palace to Wimbledon Park that we did a couple of weeks ago.

Good job of hiding the fotographer. Mon 5-Jan-2009 17:45

No Fishing

... but gulls can't read.

Black-headed gull on lake in Wimbledon Park where we walked on Sunday. Still continuing our 78-mile walk round the perimeter of inner London. Only 20 miles to go now. Probably three more walks or maybe two if we're feeling energetic. Definitely on track to finish this year!

Photo Challenge #194: Nostalgia

I'd been meaning to upload this series that I took in the Russian Market in Sofia, Bulgaria which I visited this summer on my Route of the Orient Express train journey.

My uploads from that trip somewhat stagnated in Ljubljana and I was posting them chronologically but these seemed to fit so perfectly with the current challenge theme that I'm posting them now. Will get back later to more from Ljubljana, Belgrade, Istanbul and trains in between.

Ljubljana at night

Yes, still bringing you highlights from this summer's trip...

Dear Jen, as happened with many friends here at Fotopages, I stopped getting FP's auto tracking signal that they had posted new photos. From what I have found, this is happening with many people. I see that I have lost many marvelous fotos. !!! Tue 16-Sep-2008 22:06

The meaning of the universe

What was the significance of this yellow marking on the recently resurfaced path in my local park and why was there a battery embedded in the tarmac in the middle of the triangle?
Should we be on the lookout for aliens in Archway?

Archway Island

View all 6 photos...
Five roads meet at Archway. The notorious Archway Road which is the A1 leading north out of London, Highgate Hill leading up to Highgate, St John's Way heading over toward Crouch End or Finsbury Park, Holloway Rd taking you down to Highbury Corner and Junction Rd, my local shopping centre, running along to Tufnell Park.
In the middle of all this traffic mayhem is a roundabout.
It's not immediately apparent that it is a roundabout as it contains a lot of buildings - a pub (the Archway Tavern), a huge Methodist Church Hall (scene of the famous Archway Rd planning enquiry) with a charity shop attached, my opticians, a gym, cafe(s) and assorted shops.
To get to this little world entails crossing at least two of the roads (waiting for the pedestrian lights each time) and most of us locals have referred to it for some time as the Island. Now it's officially that as you can see from the photos above

They eat horses in Ljubljana.
Glad I'm a veggie.
