Photo challenge #191: Portraiture
|
|
Decided to post an entry for this never-ending photochallenge. During the course of this challenge I have travelled to 8 different countries...
This is one I took at a friend's 60th birthday party shortly before I left.
That Mary Poppins moment...

Looking down on Ljubljana

The roofs of Ljubljana from the Castle.
Almost a mini-Prague.

Angry evening skies

Taken on my way home from work this evening using Sunset mode on my Panasonic Lumix. I'm getting fond of this little point and shoot as a carry-about camera.

An afternoon in Trieste
|
|
Our next destination was Ljubljana in Slovenia. Although it's normally possible to get the train from Venice to Ljubljana there was apparently some dispute going on between the Italians and Slovenians about running each other's trains on each other's tracks so no trains could cross the border. This meant that we had to get the train to Trieste, right on the Slovenian border, and then take a coach for the last 50 miles or so of the journey.
Although it meant that we didn't quite make our entire journey to Istanbul by train, it did mean that we got to spend the afternoon in Trieste which was a bonus.

Olympics entrepreneur

Bottles dug up from the Olympics site for sale in a garden centre by Victoria Park, Hackney. Just beside the Hertford Union Canal where we walked on Sunday. Wonder if anyone buys them?
I've decided to intersperse my travel pics with current pics taken in London. The cold, wet weather is such a contrast to the sweltering heat and sun in Venice (and everywhere else we visited for that matter). It's hard to believe it's summer here at the moment, it feels more like October. It was so cold in the house yesterday that I ended up putting the heating on for an hour or so just to cheer myself up.
