Crystal Palace Station

Had to wait half an hour for a train at the end of our walk but there was plenty to photograph...

Re. yesterday's pic - Marylin? Sofia? I'm not sure. It's a painting on the wall of a kebab shop in Archway, close to where I live. One of those things I'd been meaning to photograph for ages and finally did. I don't know why it was put there. It always makes me think of a land girl - the Women's Land Army was recruited to work on farms producing food during the last war. I came across this interesting historical document The Land Girl April 1943, price 3d, so you can see what I mean.

Btw, if I'm not around for a while it's because I'm about to go off to Barcelona. Will be back on June 1st. Although I'm not going until Saturday, I have to go to work for the rest of this week and haven't even thought about what I need to do to prepare for my trip...

very nice!

Anyone for cricket?

Although it's not the weather for it today. Grey cold and wet again. A contrast to the hot sun last Sunday when we walked past Kent County Cricket Club.

Simple theme, but tells a lot of stories Sat 17-May-2008 18:34

Mustard and black

Sixteenth century timber framed house just outside Eltham Palace. This used to be the Lord Chancellor's lodgings but has now been converted into three private houses.

Not Jurassic Park

(although you'd be forgiven for thinking it was).

One of the famous Victorian dinosaurs in Crystal Palace Park where we ended our walk last Sunday.

Photo Challenge #185: Bokeh

Bit of a technical theme. My interpretation is that it relates to the quality of the out-of-focus areas of the image that help to highlight the main subject but I'm sure it's hotly debated in photographic circles. Whatever, here's my entry.

One I took earlier in the year while photographing gulls in the local park with my 70-300VR

I agree. It's the reflection that really makes this a very cool shot. Wed 14-May-2008 01:16

The Capital Ring joins up the green spaces of inner London. (Actually I'd class some of it as outer London but nevertheless it's more or less within the area bounded by the North and South Circular roads - not to be confused with the M25, that's another walk.) To do that, it has to cross a lot of roads and railway lines (not to mention passing through a few endless suburbs). Here are the footbridges we crossed last Sunday.
