Solo swan
|
|
On the Lee Navigation, Hackney Wick.
My friend and I are walking round the Capital Ring - a 78ml circular walk round London, divided into 15 sections averaging about 5mls each. The bevy of swans from my earlier entry was from the Stoke Newington to Hackney Wick section that we did a few weeks ago. This week we did section 14 from Hackney Wick to Beckton, starting on the Lee Navigation where we left off previously.
(In case any observant readers think that means we've nearly finished I must clarify that we actually started with section 12 as it's nearest to where we live. We followed that with section 11 which is also close to home. So we've got sections 15 and 1 - 10 still to do. Watch this space...)
So, between my visit to Renate in Germany and our London walks, I've got plenty of pics to post over the coming days.

RAINBOW
The rain held off while we were in Bernkastel-Kues but as we were driving beside the Mosel back to Trier there was a torrential downpour. Then the sun came out and we knew there had to be a rainbow. When we eventually saw it we weren't disappointed. It was a spectacular coloured bridge spanning the river.

... Renate (who I met through her fotopage). She's moved to flickr now but says she might still update here again one day soon...
We had great fun together, her with her D200 and me with my D80. I expect we could have a good game of snap with some of our photos!
Today's set are a few I took on our first day when we visited

Drove 250 miles northwest in a hired van to deliver furniture to my daughter in Preston (nr. Manchester) this weekend. Generally it's colder in the North of the country than the South but this weekend things were reversed so I missed London bathed in 2 inches of morning snow on Sunday and instead I bring you pictures of Northern skies. The clouds really were a feature of this weekend for me.

A bevy of swans
|
|
I'd never seen so many swans together in one place as here, on the Lee Navigation. Got me to wondering what the collective noun was. All I could think of was a gaggle of geese but I've now discovered that for swans it's a bevy. Perhaps you knew that already but if you didn't you do now.
(This interesting piece of trivia is the main purpose of this entry as the photo itself has no artistic merit whatsoever.)

You got it!

Congratulations, Click and JP. It is indeed a Tucker (more pics above).

But JP's actually a double-winner as he's now posed a question that I don't know the answer to. What *is* the gold car in the background? I haven't got a good picture of it but there's a bit more in the background of #3. So, what is it?

Can you guess?
Taken at the classic car show at Alexandra Palace in February.
No answer until there is at least one guess
